Performance Issues

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Hi everyone…

We’ve been having performance issues on our servers lately, as many have noticed.  Specifically, some graphs haven’t been displaying properly and the site occasionally returns an “Error 400″.  We’re trying to work with our hosting company in order to solve these problems, but if all else fails we’re making plans to move the site elsewhere.

Meanwhile, we’ve been working pretty hard on the next version of Runstoppable.  When will it be out?  When it’s ready, of course ;)

Runstoppable’s Usage

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

With over 500 users registered so far, we’re always curious who’s using the site. With this in mind, I created a big map of the world with an icon for each unique route starting location. In order to protect our users’ privacy, I reduced the precision of the markers, so that there won’t be a marker on your house, but it should be within a mile or two.

Meanwhile, we’ve been working on a new statistics system and better forum support for the upcoming version. I’ll have a preview up here once we get a bit closer. It should be a big step forward.

Elevation graphs seem to be back… hopefully that won’t happen again.

Demo!

Friday, October 21st, 2005

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a demo video is worth… I don’t know, a lot.

I’ve now completed the first iteration of coding on the Runstoppable Route Editor. If you have Macromedia Flash Player installed, you can watch a demonstration at http://www.runstoppable.com/demo/. Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas. I’m pretty much on schedule right now, hoping to push ahead over the weekend.

Schedule

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Tim and I worked on a to do list and schedule for all the stuff that needs to get done before we can start with the beta testing. As we should expect, the “last” 20% of the work takes 80% of the time, which took a bigger toll than expected. Anyway, based upon the outlined tasks, we expect to have a limited beta start during the first week of November. This means that you’ll have to contact one of us directly in order to get a registration code to sign up for the code (just so that we can control our numbers). After the first iteration of testing and subsequent changes, we’ll open the site up for a wide, open beta. Following further testing and changes, Runstoppable will be released.

I really need to start sleeping less.
